Name Of Project: Baby Success Medical Intervention Project of ANAM Initiative a.k.a Anam Transformation Movement.
Date Of Contact: A woman by name Chekwube Aniekwe and her husband Emmanuel Aniekwe contacted ANAM INITIATIVE in 2019 to solicit help for her child, called baby Success. The child was six years at the time.
The child was diagnosed with Guevedoce, which is known in layman’s language as ambiguous genitalia. This is when a baby born as a female starts developing the male reproductive organ at a later age.
Normally, this health condition begins in children from 12 years but Success was unfortunate to have this illness at the young age of 6 years old.
Date Of Investigation: After contact with Success’s family, delegates were sent on the 10th of February 2019 to their home at Ikotun to confirm the reports of the medical condition.
The results of the tests they had previously taken were given to our delegates and some oral explanations were collected as well.
Immediately, we reached out to one of our supporters privately, who instantly sent N80,000 and afterwards sent another N40,000 to run fresh tests.
Then other preliminary investigations were done and multiple tests were been run at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital ( LUTH) Ishaga Road, Idi-Araba Surulere Lagos. Which affirmed all the results received as accurate.
The doctor carefully explained the health condition to us, he told us about the surgery and the cost of performing it. The information given was used to prepare our support campaign.
Public Campaign For Support: The fundraising campaign began on the 25th of January 2020 on our official Facebook page.
We sent out several appeal posts, soliciting help from both existing and potential financial supporters.
Due to hackers taking control over our website, we had no access to promote the campaign on the website. Our main source of campaign promotion was on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and our ANAM communities.
We had a lot of amazing supporters donating from all across the country to save Success’s life.

The approximate cost of all expenses including tests and surgery was N600,000 but we were able to raise N591,000. The remaining amount was completed by personal donations from members in the organisation.
The campaign for support successfully came to an end in March 2020.
The Surgery: Immediately after donations were made, we contacted the hospital, (LUTH) to book a date for the surgery.
Success and her mother were admitted to the hospital to prepare for the surgery in two days but they were dismissed on the account that the child was not fit to undergo the operation at that time.
They had to wait for another date and subsequent attempts were made but to no avail. They were put off for reasons ranging from covid-19 cautions and more emergency cases that had to be attended to first.
It went on like that until, August 2022 when the surgery was successfully performed and Success is back to being a normal child.
We give all glory to God that despite the delays the child had a successful operation with no complications.
Appreciation: We want to use this medium to thank God for his mercy, for protecting baby Success and for giving her a successful treatment.
